She looks like an angel.

Half naked beneath the messy covers, with sunlight pouring over her golden skin, I could almost leave her here forever…

If only I could bear to let her go again.

There’s no place in my dark and violent world for such a precious thing, even if she’s strong as hell. But I promised to take her on a job today, so that’s what I’m going to do.

Still, as I stand in the doorway of her bedroom, I can’t help but just take a moment to stare, letting the blissful seconds tick down until there’s no more time left to spare.

What’s so special about her?

Last night was the first time I’ve ever shared a bed with another person. At one point, we woke up, and she spilled her secrets to me. I spilled some of mine too.

Fuck. I can’t believe I told her about Papa and Tomek and the Greeks. That shit is so personal I have a hard time even thinking about it. Hell, Leo and I experienced the whole thing together, and it hasn’t come up more than once or twice since then. Same goes with Valentina.

I guess that’s just how things go in our family. Bottle up the bad. Use it as fuel.

But Mary sucked that fuel out of me last night. It was like I was leaking. It felt so… good. And I didn’t want to stop.

Ahead, Mary stirs on the mattress, but she doesn’t wake up. I must have really worn her out yesterday, because it’s already almost noon. I’ve been up for four hours, getting ready and coordinating with Maksim and Leo over the phone.

We have an important job today. And Mary’s going to help us.

That is, if I can gather the strength to wake my sleeping beauty.

Stepping towards the bed, I carefully sit down on the edge and it sinks against my weight. Mary naturally rolls over to me.

That’s when her eyes finally open.

“Good morning,” she smiles.

“More like afternoon,” I can’t help but tease.

Taking her fingers in mine, I press our palms together. She looks well rested. Good. So am I. For the first time in years, I slept well. No nightmares. No waking up in a cold sweat. No urgent desire to get up and do something, anything, to distract me from the horrors of my past and the uncertainty of my future.

Really, I just wanted to stay in bed with her, curled up like an ordinary person, next to a woman I could almost call my own. Almost.

No matter how hard I hold her, and no matter how softly she smiles, there’s no hiding that I’ve bought her, and in less than two weeks, I might just have to let her go.

“Did I really sleep in that late?” Mary sighs. Sitting up, the blanket falls down her perfect body, revealing her soft tan lines and succulent tits. The sight makes me hard.

But duty calls, and I’ve already waited long enough.

“You did. And if you want to come with me today, you’re going to have to get ready quickly.
